The Hall, which recently underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment, has 11 wonderfully unique and differently sized suites to choose from. Large conferences would be very well-suited for The Goulburn, whereas smaller business meetings would be more at home in the Library or Study. Its first floor Gallery is ideal for civil ceremonies with the perfect photo opportunity on the balcony or the grand staircase. The Goulburn Suite comprises of three separate rooms and an exclusive bar, making it perfect for larger parties. The main room in the Goulburn suite is adorned with a giant chandelier and vast domed ceilings – making it one of our most breathtaking rooms. The antique mirrored walls add to the immense feeling of space, the suite can accommodate for up to 200 guests. Our central location in the heart of Manchester is the perfect spot. It’s within walking distance from all major train stations in Manchester, and has convenient tram and bus stops close by. For an overnight stay there’s also plenty of local accommodation nearby, from tiny bespoke hotels to the most well-known chains. Manchester Hall has 8 exclusive bedrooms within the building opening alongside our Rooftop Terrace at the back end of 2018 which will accommodate a further 250 seated or 500 standing, making it the biggest roof top in Manchester. The Mechanics Institute is a grade II listed building it is best known as the birthplace of the TUC which was founded in the building in 1868. It is also the birthplace of the Co-operative Insurance Society and UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology) The small Manchester Mechanics' Institute was established in 1824 entirely through private initiative and funds to teach artisans the basic principles of science by part-time study. Several Manchester men met in the Bridgewater Arms in High Street to establish the Mechanics' Institute in Manchester, where artisans could be taught by part-time study the basic principles of science - the science being mechanics and chemistry. Of the hundreds of such institutions founded around that time it alone has survived to date as an autonomous body.
